Goldendoodle: Miles
Sharing another of my holiday commissions, a dog portrait that I created in 2017. Obviously, I could not post until the recipient of the gift received the drawing. Miles is a Goldendoodle always adorned with a tie or scarf. In most the images Miles carries a smile,...
Standard Poodle: Odin
Meet Odin, an apricot colored Standard Poodle and a commissioned dog portrait I created in pastels for the holidays. Pet Portraits make lovely gifts. In creating this dog portrait I requested a selection of images so I could then select the photo that most inspires me...
Fred And Wilma: Mixed Breed Dogs
Meet Fred and Wilma, two mixed breed dogs that are buddies and my most recent commissioned pet portrait. Creating a dog portrait of two fluffy white dogs can be challenging. I always ask for a selection of photos so I can decide on the image that most inspires me. In...
Bernese Mountain Dog: Hugo
This drawing of a Bernese Mountain Dog was inspired by a photo taken of Hugo at a wine tasting my husband, and I attended. Hugo's owner, George Skorka, takes Hugo to many wine and trade tastings. You could say Hugo is the Los Angeles wine trade tasting mascot. For...
Horse: Day Dreaming
When I am creating Monotypes I often produce a series using the original print and then making a second print using the ghost of the background. This is an the original hand pulled print I created of a horse. There is a sensitivity about the way this horse looks...
Sunflowers: Suncatcher
This floral drawing is the second in a series of Sunflowers I created from a Monotype. I used the ghost of my first print to create this hand pulled print. A ghost is a second printing of an image but in this case I painted the flower back in. I used a very loose...
Sunflower: Basking in the Sun
There is something about Sunflowers that inspire me. Recently viewing some images of these flowers, I decided the next time I created Monotypes I would create a Sunflower. This is the first of two Sunflower designs I created by painting on a plate and printing. This...
Weimaraner: Vegas the Lucky Rescue Dog
In addition to being an animal artist, I am a wine journalist. An important aspect of many wineries is the winery dog. Because I have an affinity for both wine and dogs, I love to draw these winery dogs. Dracaena Wines, a winery located in Paso Robles, known for the...
Black Labrador Retriever: Easy Does It
The adoring eyes on this Black Labrador Retriever were the enticement to create my latest drawing. Each artist captures the essence of a dog in different ways and for me it is the eyes that grab me. For many people, a dog speaks to them through the eyes. This...
Toy Fox Terrier: Dobby
I had a lot of fun drawing this cutey. A commissioned dog portrait of a Toy Fox Terrier, who loves to cross his paws as evidenced in this drawing. It is funny how some pet portraits come more easily; this was one of those that just spoke to me. Dobby's owners are...
Piggly: Rescue Dog
This commissioned Pet Portrait is of a rescue dog named Piggly. I donated a dog portrait to the California Wildlife Center and Piggly's owners won the Dog Portrait. Unfortunately Piggly found her forever home for only a few months. An illness took her to the Rainbow...
Yellow Labrador Retriever: Biscuit
This pastel drawing of a yellow Labrador Retriever named Biscuit was commissioned dog portrait. Biscuit roommate is also a yellow Labrador. Check out Miley dog portrait. Other Yellow Labrador artwork Lizzie For more information on dog portraits email Cori.
Curly Coated Retriever: Ozzy
Ozzy is a Curly Coated Retriever that I was commissioned to do a dog portrait of this year. This was my first attempt at this breed. Dark colored dogs are often more difficult to draw because getting the right expression is more of a challenge. The artist must typically has to exaggerate the highlights to bring out the dogs spirit. In this case I was able to bring out Ozzy’s gentle nature with more subtle highlights.
Wirehaired Pointing Griffon: Griffin
I am always intrigued by drawing new breeds. When I was attending a wine tasting from Crocker & Starr and heard that owner Pam Starr had a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, I was hooked. I had to do a drawing of Griffin. As a wine writer the winery dog can be...
Goldendoodle: Kula
Although I was told this Goldendoodle was a character, this dog portrait of Kula captures her sweet calm manner. She is lying quietly probably anticipating her next move. Other Goldendoodle Art: In addition if you like this Goldendoodle, check out this drawing of a...
